CAN I RENT A BOAT IF I HAVE NO BOATING EXPERIENCE?Unfortunately, no. We require all renters to have prior experience operating a powerboat for their safety and the safety of others. Renting a boat is similar to renting a car—without prior experience, it would not be safe or practical. Additionally, if you were born on or after January 1, 1988, Florida law requires you to have a Boating Safety Education ID Card to operate a boat. However, we encourage all boaters, regardless of age, to take a boating safety course to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.

IS THERE A SPEED LIMIT ON THE WATERWAYS?Yes, there are specific speed regulations for different areas: Intracoastal markers 72-76 and 92-99 (Caloosahatchee River): Slow speed. Caloosahatchee River: Speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. Pine Island Sound: No specific speed limit, but always operate responsibly and watch for posted signs. Within ¼ mile of any shoreline: Slow speed. Canals with houses: Idle speed only (2-3 mph or around 1,000 RPMs). What do "slow speed" and "idle speed" mean? Idle speed: The minimum speed needed to maintain steering (2-3 mph / around 1,000 RPMs). Slow speed: You can travel slightly faster than idle, but the boat’s bow must remain down (no wake). This is typically around 5-7 mph or 1,800 RPMs, depending on your boat. How is slow speed enforced? The Coast Guard, law enforcement, and marine patrol officers enforce "slow speed" based on the boat's behavior. If your bow is raised, even slightly, you are likely exceeding slow speed. Keep your bow level to comply with the regulations.
